National Unified Champion School

In the fall of 2022 Iola High School and the Unified Sports team was selected to represent the state of Kansas for the 2022 National Unified Champion School program. A Special Olympics Unified Champion School has an inclusive school climate and exudes a sense of collaboration, engagement and respect for all members of the student body and staff. A Unified Champion School receiving national banner recognition is one that has demonstrated commitment to inclusion by meeting 10 national standards of excellence. These standards were developed by a national panel of leaders from Special Olympics and the education community. We are very excited and honored to be receiving this award. Along with this award, out of 8,000 Unified Champion Schools across America Iola High School has been chosen as one of ESPN's Honor Roll Top 25 Schools! We are so proud of our team, school, and community for becoming parts of the Inclusion Revolution! Follow this link to see us listed on the ESPN website.
