This upcoming school year, we are proud to be working alongside KSHSAA to bring Unified bowling state-wide! Unified Sports is an inclusive sports program that unites Special Olympics athletes and peer buddies as teammates for training and competition. Learn more about our partnership from the perspective of those that are making this happen! With a new way to be involved, there are new opportunities to come for the #UnifiedGeneration.

National Unified Champion School

In the fall of 2022 Iola High School and the Unified Sports team was selected to represent the state of Kansas for the 2022 National Unified Champion School program. A Special Olympics Unified Champion School has an inclusive school climate and exudes a sense of collaboration, engagement and respect for all members of the student body and staff. A Unified Champion School receiving national banner recognition is one that has demonstrated commitment to inclusion by meeting 10 national standards of excellence. These standards were developed by a national panel of leaders from Special Olympics and the education community. We are very excited and honored to be receiving this award.
